This page covers the water feature pumps that we offer for our customers.

Why do I need a water feature pump? Aren't all pumps alike?

You might be wondering why we would need a separate category for water feature pumps. Could they be all that different? The answer is "yes".

When an engineers set out to design a pump, they have three key questions in mind:
  • What kind of pressure does this pump need to produce? (i.e. what kind of back pressure is it working against)
  • What kind of flow does this pump need to be able to produce? (i.e. how much water do we need to move)
  • Which is more important in this pump - pressure or flow

Here is how a water feature pump is different from a standard pool pump:

A water feature pump is designed to produce a LOT of flow working against very low back pressure (20-30 ft of head). This is because the only back pressure created in the system is either the piping that carries the water back to the water feature or the required lift to push the water uphill or into the air. As the name connotes, the key element of a "water feature" is the water. The water is the show, and you typically want to move large amounts of water to gain the desired effect.

A typical pool pump is designed to produce a moderate amount of flow working against medium to high back pressure (50-70 ft of head). This is because everything in the pool circulation system (filter, backwash valve, heater, chlorinator, spa jets, etc) creates back pressure and it all adds up, so the pool/spa pump needs to be able to operate at higher back pressure than a water feature pump.

WaterFeature Series Pump

Product Features:
High Flow - from 80 to 160 GPM (gallons per minute)
Medium Head - operates against a moderate amount of back pressure (typically 30 - 50 ft of head)
Best Applications- water features such as Sheer Descents or Laminar Jets that require lots of flow at medium pressure.
Stealth Pump Body - features a very large basket and a cam lock lid
2" x 2.5" Unions - allows the pump to be connected to larger plumbing for greater flow and reduced backpressure.
3 Models Available - this pump comes in 80, 120 and 160 gallon per minute models
3 Year Warranty - we include a three year warranty on any WaterFeature series pumps we install.

WaterFall Series Pump

Product Features:
High Flow - from 125 to 185 GPM (gallons per minute)
Low Head - operates against a very low amount of back pressure (typically 15-20 ft of head) Best Applications- waterfalls that rely on a massive flow of water to gain the best effect. Stealth Pump Body - features a very large basket and a cam lock lid
2" x 2.5" Unions
- allows the pump to be connected to larger plumbing for greater flow and reduced back pressure.
3 Models Available - this pump comes in 125 and 185 gallon per minute models
3 Year Warranty - we include a three year warranty on any WaterFeature series pumps we install.
